I participated in my first chat tonight. I was supposed to be participating in my second, but my first chat was a no show. I was stood up! So, tonight I checked the calendar and participated in #edchat. OH MY GOSH I have no idea how people keep up with them! It was moving so fast, and I was moving so slow! I would reply to something and I would miss out on 10 comments!
I did like the topic however. It was about online learning. There were so many different opinions on the subject. Personally I have taken F2F (face to face), hybrid and online only, and I can say without a doubt that I enjoy hybrid the best. Online learning is great for time saving (although I feel like I spend way more time online than in a class) but I truly enjoy spending time with the instructor and the other students. Anyway....the chat was amazing. My brain certainly didn't move as fast as I would have liked though!
Tonight I participated in my second chat. I thought it would be perfect for me since it was titled, New Teachers to Twitter Chat! I think it was calling my name :) (#nt2t) Unfortunately, I must be one of the only new teachers to be in a Twitter chat, because it was SO slow! It would go ten minutes without anyone chatting. It was the direct opposite of my last chat. Apparently #edchat is either way more popular, or there are no new teachers learning to tweet!
So which one was my favorite? I feel like Goldilocks and the Three Bears; my chats were like her porridge. One chat was too fast, one was too slow, all I want a chat that is just right!
All Sparkled Up!

My Personal Learning Network
The one thing I have trouble with when taking online classes is that I am never sure if I am doing the project the correct way! Here I am making my visual Personal Learning Network, and I have no idea what I am doing! If we were in class, I would probably ask every single person in there what the heck they are going to do for this assignment! But, I am going to jump in and paste what I have done...hopefully I am doing it right :)
Here is my PLN. I decided to add logos to my mind map, because after all it is supposed to be a visual project! The ones I added are the ones that I am most familiar with or have at least attempted to understand! I have learned about A LOT of different networks in this class. My favorite though is still my old standby, Pinterest. Sorry, but I swear it sucks me in and I can't get out! Everyday I learn how to do a lesson for school, make something yummy, organize, or rearrange my house!
I am also trying to get into Twitter. It tends to overwhelm me a bit that there is that much information out there that I haven't learned yet, but I am working on it! I will have to say that I think Google docs, slide share, etc is the coolest thing ever. I LOVE how it saves automatically (I have lost a 20 page paper before :/) and using slide share to collaborate in the classroom on a project is amazing!
I have also really enjoyed the blogs from the other students in this class. I love how honest people are on the blogs. It is really different than reading a paper, or journal article review from your peers. I feel more connected to them (even though we haven't met!) and I like that I am not the only one stressing about twitter chats or starting a blog - thanks guys :) (and yes I do look just like the pic..HAHAHAHA)
