Well I have been on Twitter for 24 hours now and I have had to reset my password several times because my page has been "compromised." It seems as though someone is trying to tell me something..ha!
In the beginning I thought I would have a hard time figuring Twitter out, but it was very simple to start up. The hardest part was trying to find a name that I liked that the other billion people using Twitter hadn't already taken! After signing up I had to decide which source I was going to use to organize my Twitter; TweetDeck or Hootsuite. So, I did what every visual learner does, and I went to Youtube! This is where I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-aC9o3XMc0. After watching TweetDeck VS. Hootsuite I still wasn't sure so I went to look at both. On Hootsuite, they wanted my credit card information (which is never good for me) so it was an easy call. TweetDeck won my vote! At this point I am signed up and ready to go! I sat for awhile trying to decide who I wanted to follow! One of the first was Pinterest Fails...remember I am obsessed??? One of the first things I tweeted was a post on Pinterest for the 100th day of school....I mean how cute is it to label 100 Hershey kisses with numbers and hide them in the room and let the littles find them?!
Anyway, then things started to snowball into following everything - that didn't include EDUCATION...which was the point of having this account to begin with, right? HAHA! Next thing you know I am watching Pinterest videos and reading what Joanna from "Fixer Upper" (HGTV) is tweeting. Talk about a time sucker!
So...onto actually Tweeting. Hmmmmmm. I am just not wanting to! It's so weird to me that complete strangers are following me and that I whatever I tweet can be read by EVERYONE IN THE WORLD...or at least that is how I feel! Maybe I just don't understand it yet and I just don't know what I am doing! I did think it was funny that at our PD day at school I heard some girls talking about how EVERY teacher in their school was required to get on Twitter! I guess for once I am ahead of the game :)

Michelle,
Good video. I decided on Tweetdeck too. It looks a lot more organized that Hootsuite. I also agree that it is never good when they ask for your credit card! That always makes me a little leery.
On a side note, how do you use Pinterest for education? I always hear people talking about how much they find on it for school. I have had very little luck with Pinterest. What kinds of things do you use it for?
Oh no! Isn't it so frustrating when technology makes you want to pull your hair out! That is awesome you are ahead of the teachers at your school by having Twitter!
My school requires our teachers to get Twitter as well.
On that note, I ended up finding all of my teachers from my school who do have Twitter. I have to say, I was sadly disappointed to see the ones who actually just sign up for Twitter & not utilizing it in their classroom.
I can see where it is another thing to add but I think for us it will be beneficial because we are gaining experiences on how Twitter can enhance our classrooms.
Heres a list of ROCKSTAR Teachers to follow on Twitter! http://mashable.com/2014/01/13/twitter-teachers/
I use PINTEREST all the time for school. I am actually teaching first grade math fluency. I have found a ton of games I can create!
Looking forward to seeing your tweets,
Ashley Burton
